Our Approach
The effect of a virus on mental health
Coronavirus or often referred to as COVID 19 is changing how we live, work and interact. This is a stressful time that involves the fear of getting really sick to the point of becoming functionally incapacitated or even risking death of self or family or friends. It also includes the financial strain of how are we going to pay our bills, or if we will have enough retirement as stock prices bouncing up and down. It requires people among others to social distance, self quarantine, shelter in place as a way of reducing the speed of the virus transmission.
Most people prefer a level of predictability and by nature are social creatures so the measures to protect people from getting sick from the virus prevent people from getting important social contact and generate uncertainty. No wonder people are feeling a collective sense of anxiety as we try to manage our emotions.
Telehealth Therapy and Safety
Telehealth or sometimes referred to as telemedicine as therapy is the way to engage in professional counseling by using technology such as a computer screen or smart phone. This way the both the client and therapist keep safe and can follow recommended guidelines to ensure personal and collective safety. There are several methods of tele-health and each client may consider which one is right for them.
